The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is excited to start the second round of the Youth Leadership Development Programme (YLDP) in 2018. Whilst the first Zambia intake successfully graduated in November 2017, similar programmes of excellence have been rolled out globally by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung for many years, as we regard youth development a pivotal element in our work.

The Youth Leadership Development Programme (YLDP) is offered annually to emerging young leaders in Zambia as an exclusive opportunity to enhance their leadership capacities and familiarise them with the core ideas and values of social democracy – freedom, justice and solidarity.

This unique capacity building opportunity for young leaders will be running throughout the year 2018 (from March to October) in six modules. In addition, participants will take part in a field trip and engage themselves in social/developmental projects.

The YLDP is designed to equip youth leaders with a unique set of skills required to better fulfil their aspirations and their desired role in society. It is deliberately non-partisan and reflecting party political pluralism and pluralistic societies. This is why we invite participants from different agencies such as the National Youth Development Council of Zambia, party-political youth wings, student organisations, trade unions, youth organisations and NGOs.
