Zambia has elected a new President!
In the sixth Attempt, the Businessman Hichilema was elected into Office.
We, the FES Zambia, congratulate the newly elected Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema (UPND) on the successful election.
The announcement of the results by the Electoral Commission of Zambia early this morning is also a confirmation of the democratic culture in the country: Zambia has already completed the democratic transfer of power for the third time.
The African Union Election Observation Mission To The 12 August 2021 General Elections in Zambia confirmed that 'Election Day operations were conducted in a peaceful, transparent and professional manner' and the European Union Election Observation Mission Zambia also confirmed a 'technically well-managed electoral process'.
We are particularly pleased about the continuation of the democratic culture among the population, as well as about the extremely high voter turnout of the Zambian Youth, who also put up with long waiting times in front of the polling stations.
