COUNT HER IN!: Accelerated Investment in Women For Gender Equality

This years International Women's Day (IWD) Dialogue Forum, was themed: "COUNT HER IN!: Accelerated Investment in Women For Gender Equality". The IWD focus, for 2024 was turned towards the empowerment of women as a cornerstone to enhancing Gender inclusiveness.

This years International Women's Day (IWD) Dialogue Forum, was themed: "COUNT HER IN!: Accelerated Investment in Women For Gender Equality". The IWD focus, for 2024 was turned towards the empowerment of women as a conerstone to enhancing Gender inclusiveness.

Womens participation in the social and economic spheres is crutial in driving economic growth and development  which also leads to increased productivity, innovation and competiveness in various sectors. Achieving Gender equality requires a multifaceted approach that addresses all the barriers preventing Women from fulfilling potential as every barrier is a derialment to Womens equal representation and participation in governance and decision making processes.

The dialogue Forum therefore, endeavoured to review the social and economic space and how it is facilitating or delaying the achievement of the national targets on Gender.In this regard, he Zambia National Womens Lobby (ZNWL) in partnership with FES Zambia Office, held a dialogue and engagement forum was to discuss the theme of the 2024 IWD and therefore, provide an opportunity for women leaders to actively participate in the IWD and exchange ideas on the theme. The focus of the dialogue and engagement forum was on discussing gender equality efforts that can sustain gender equality in future. Stakeholders who attended the forum included civil society organisations, the media and key Government institutions like the Department of Gender and was held on the 1st March,2024.
