The media remain a key instrument in the promotion of Democracy. In order to fully realize this important role that the media plays, some cardinal discussions that focus on issue-based reporting are to be explored. These discussions need to bring out information must answer the following questions;

1) How should issue-based Journalism be enhanced in Zambia?

2)How does issue-based Journalism promote Democracy in Zambia?

MISA Zambia with support from the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Zambia Office, held a Panel Discussion on enhancing Issue-Based Journalism to promote Democracy. The event sought to empower the media to be able to identify many gaps in journalisn including how to avoid publishing content from politicians that threatens democracy and peace of Zambia, in addition to them serving as an educational platform for the public. The panel discussion at the event comprised of Ms. Funga Mukosha the News Diggers Managing Editor, Ms. Patricia Mbewe Radio Phoenix FM Editor, Mr.Kelvin Kachingwe Zambia Daily Mail Assistant Editor, and SACCORD Acting Executive Director Mr. Arthur Muyunda.

The objective of this discussion was to:

 To empower the media with information that enables them to promote democracy in Zambia.

 To equip the media with the knowledge to avoid content that threatens the peace of our country.
