Political Dialogue

Democracy thrives on dialogue and compromise. Only if different interest groups or stakeholders find common fora of interaction, compromise can be reached and a widely acceptable path into the future can be charted. Social and political accountability, mutual respect and a genuine willingness to accommodate one another are key components of such a discourse.

FES Zambia, together with its Zambian partner organisations, strives to identify pertinent topics in relation to the progress of social democracy in Zambia. Sometimes in the context of fairly large gatherings and sometimes in the form of more confined workshops, dialogue activities are hosted and position papers written. Often, media organisations are invited to cover such events and to help spread relevant information to a larger audience.

Examples of relevant topics include “Political Leadership”, “Constitutional Reforms”, “Integrity of Elections” and “The Role of Civil Society to provide Checks and Balances to Government.”
