Public Finance and Debt Management for Economic and Social Development

Public Finance and Debt Management National Workshop is focused on topics related to how governments manage public finances, revenue generation, budgeting, and national debt management for economic and social development in Zambia. The overall objective of the national workshop is to strengthening the capacities of non-state actors (CSO’s) in how public finances are managed, understanding the complex relationships between fiscal policy, debt sustainability, national planning and budgeting, social accountability for good governance and the role of oversight bodies such as parliament and stakeholders.

Public Finance and Debt Management National Workshop is focused on topics related to how governments manage public finances, revenue generation, budgeting, and national debt management for economic and social development in Zambia. The overall objective of the national workshop is to strengthening the capacities of non-state actors (CSO’s) in how public finances are managed, understanding the complex relationships between fiscal policy, debt sustainability, national planning and budgeting, social accountability for good governance and the role of oversight bodies such as parliament and stakeholders.

The national workshop, enhanced understanding on the linkages on public finance, debt, and economic and social development. Additionally, it also gave the participants practical tools and strategies for CSO’s effective public finance and debt management systems. As well as gave sufficient information on how to balance social spending with fiscal responsibility.
Strengthened CSO’s capacity to undertake social accountability in public finances and debt management, fosters economic and social development in Zambia.
Participants of the workshop had a opportunity to deepen understanding of the complex relationship between public finance, revenue collection, debt management, national planning, and budgeting framework for economic and social development in Zambia.The national workshop remains therefore, a critical platform to foster economic and social development that focuses on improved public services delivery, social accountability, socially just policies that are gender and climate sensitive.
