AZIEA Strategic & Sustainability Plan 2022 to 2026

A Functional Strategic and Sustainability Plan, tailored to the needs of AZIEA. 

The Alliance for Zambian Informal Economy Associations (AZIEA) is a national umbrella organization for associations of workers in the informal economy. The alliance was launched in October 2002, as result of a project on organizing in the informal economy undertaken by the Workers Education Association of Zambia (WEAZ) and the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU). Currently, the alliance has a membership of 24,602 members dotted in all the ten (10) provinces of Zambia and these include market vendors, hawkers, cross-border traders, bus and taxi drivers among others. One of the major functions of AZIEA is to provide a platform for its members to influence government policies and legislation as regards social security in the best interest of its members within the broader framework of its advocacy strategy.

AZIEA with the support of FES Zambia, engaged the service of a consultant, who will assist the Organisation to develop a five-year Strategic and Sustainability Plan. The Plan will outline short-term, medium and long-term action plans, measurable indicators and timelines against objectives.

From the 15^th to the 16^th of March 2022, AZIEA in partnership with FES Zambia, organized a workshop that was focused on the development of the Strategic & Sustainability Plan 2022 to 2026. The workshop had the active participation of AZIEA executive members, who were keen to have a functional Strategic Plan tailored to the needs of AZIEA and its members.
