ZCTU Pre Budget Seminar for the Zambian 2019 National Budget

Through own proposals in the areas of labour law, social security and democratic participation trade unions have an impact on the political course and the legal framework.

Although Zambia recorded significant economic growth of over 6% for the past couple of years, the growth has not translated into improved economic wellbeing for a number of workers. The economic growth recorded so far has not created enough employment opportunities while informal employment has also remained high. This conference that brought together decision makers at the level of Union Presidents and General secretaries to discuss their inputs into the 2019 National Budget. The also included young people serving on the ZCTU board as well as the women’s committee. Through own proposals in the areas of labour law, social security and democratic participation trade unions have an impact on the political course and the legal framework.
