Torch bearers of Zambia's Youth Leadership

In a quest to enhance the participation of young people in a Democracy. The Youth Leadership Development Programme Alumni Zambia, met together to discuss youth participation and leadership vision for the Zambia’s 2026 Elections and beyond.

The Zambian youth have played a major role for the change of power in Zambia in August 2021. A politically interested youth is a godsend for further democratization of a political culture and we as FES want to contribute to such a positive development. The Young Leadership Development Programme (YLDP) Alumni Forum, brings together the alumni from the past YLDP years for conducting political debates on major political issues.

This April, the YLDP met together to discuss youth participation and leadership vision for the Zambia’s 2026 Elections and beyond. In order to make a concrete contribution to the discussion, the Youth held a press briefing at the end of the activity, where they clearly stated their desires and demands for Zambia’s Democracy and the 2026 General Elections. The activity took place in Lusaka with the participation of Alumni from all across Zambia.
