Image: Creator: ES Zambia Date: 4 - 6 June 2026 The Lobito Corridor presents significant opportunities for economic growth, trade and investment in Zambia's mining sector. As developments around the Corridor continue to gain momentum, it is important that workers and their representatives understand both the opportunities and challenges that may arise from these investments. Image: Creator: FES Zambia To contribute to this understanding, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Zambia Office partnered with the Mine Workers Union of Zambia (MUZ) to conduct a Lobito Corridor Awareness and Leadership Training for union leaders and members in Kitwe. The training provided participants with knowledge on the strategic importance of the Corridor while strengthening their capacity to advocate for workers' rights, democratic participation and accountable leadership within the mining sector. Through dialogue and engagement, participants explored how trade unions can effectively represent workers' interests and ensure that the benefits of economic development contribute to decent work, social justice and shared prosperity.
